Iroquois Amphitheater's Summer Season Underway

The last weekend in May saw the opening of Iroquois Amphitheater's summer season with a performance of "Songs of the Sixties" by the Louisville Chorus.

June 16-19 and 23-26 Music Theatre Louisville returns to present "1776," the first of its three musicals. "Cinderella" moves in July 14-17 and 21-24, with "Anything Goes" scheduled for Aug. 11-14 and 18-21.

Rounding out the month of June are Ballet Espanol (June 4-5) and an Evening of Magic and Illusion on June 10.

The Strictly Bluegrass Festival, formerly held in Central Park, moves to the Amphitheater this year for a two-day run, Sept. 9-10, and will feature the "Father of Bluegrass Music," Kentucky's Bill Monroe.

Grants from Brown-Forman Corp., the Greater Louisville Fund for the Arts and the Kentucky Arts Council help make the season possible.

Information about these and other concerts can be had by calling 502-585-3901; for reservations to the Music Theatre Louisville performances, call 502-589-4060.
