Watchless Tom Pearce called one evening at about midnight to complain that the report of the breakup of Average Life was inaccurate. He states that the band underwent mitosis: half the original band, himself included, plus two new members, remain as Average Life; the other two original members formed Volcano Virgin. Claude Wayne at AMP reports that Glenn Pennington, father of J.P. Pennington, formerly of Exile, has bought the Renfro Valley Barn Dance. No information about future plans.

Vince Emmett of Shaking Family has been spending more time in a bed than at the console or behind a guitar than he would like. The producer/writer landed in the hospital when a severe lower intestinal infection refused to clear up. He's back at work, but moving slowly. His doctor told him to eat right and quit trying to act like a teenager. The rock 'n' roll life claims another victim, sort of.

Hugh Hill, country singer and writer, says that bricklaying is hard work whether it's being done in Louisville or Nashville. He's shuttling between Nashville and Louisville, trying to make enough bucks to spend time on Music Square.

Alan Rhody's song "Train Wreck of Emotion," cut and released as the premiere single by Lorrie Morgan, peaked at about twenty on the charts. Alan's comment: Send me that royalty check.

Willie James brought his entire band down to the L.A.S.C. Monday Night Open Stage, only to discover that it was All Bob Dylan Night. Willie and the Boys hung out and listened till late anyway. Another night, Willie.

Caught Mickey Clark's tune "Cardinal Cannonball" on WAMZ; haven't heard Ron Gambrell's tune yet, but I'm told it's getting air play all over town.
