Down On The Corner
By Paul Moffett

A Blast From the Past? There are some stirrings on the interwebs about the possibility of a 2011 edition of KrazyFest. Primarily, there's a Facebook page, set up by Andy Tinsley. There's some discussion on the 502Scene Board. For background, check Wikipedia's KrazyFest page, plus the Initial Records page. The Initial Records page notes that founder Andy Rich is in Las Vegas, running poker rooms for Caesars Entertainment.

CD Releases – What used to be a rare thing is now quite common: new recordings. Here's recent a short list:

From up Pennsylvania way, Louisville native Ben Thornewill's band, Jukebox the Ghost, is working on a new CD, Everything Under the Sun, set for release on September 7, which will be released by Yep Roc Records, which has signed the band

The enigmatic Louisville band The Web released their (very, very) long awaited third album, Clydotorous Scrotohendron, on June 12. The seven-song album will be an LP with letter-pressed covers by Dexterity Press. It also includes a free digital download of the album with purchase of the LP.

Coliseum has a new LP, House With A Curse, which was set for release on June 22 via Temporary Residence.

Straight A's debut 18-song CD, Self Help, is now available at Earxtacy and at http://www.louisvillenoise.com/v2/releases/noise40.htm

Cheyenne Marie Mize has signed a management deal with Jeffrey Smith of Crash Avenue Publicity. The national release of her new CD, Before Lately on sonaBLAST! Records will happen later this summer.

Frontier(s) released its debut 7-inch, The Plains, on June 29 on No Sleep Records.

Parlour, which features ex-Crain and Cerebellum members Tim Furnish and Jon Cook, will release its new album this fall on Temporary Residence.

That's the list at the moment. More to follow, no doubt.

• Chatter on the metal boards is that theOasis Club on Lakeshore Court is getting a facelift and will soon return to booking shows. For the last several months, it has been primarily an Hispanic-oriented club. Stay tuned.

Derby Dinner Playhouse has extended their Summer Musical Theatre Camp 2010, by a third week, running August 2 through August 7. Designed for students ages 8-16, the one-week camp will focus on music, dance, and drama and culminate in a final presentation on the Derby Dinner Playhouse stage.
