She Just Keeps Getting Better

Good Thing Going (Rounder Records)
Rhonda Vincent

Rhonda Vincent's latest recording should meet with acclaim because of her vibrant take on bluegrass. Her gift for balancing classic bluegrass with subtle contemporary touches is featured throughout as she presents a set of songs ranging from straight-ahead bluegrass to bouncy swing to heartfelt ballads. Joining her are members of her stellar band, the Rage and special guests including Jesse McReynolds, Russell Moore, Bryan Sutton, Becky Issacs and Kathy Chiavola.

The 12 tracks include five originals or co-writes, alongside classic cover tracks such as the hard-driving "Hit Parade of Love" (Jimmy Martin), a tender "I Give My Love to You" (a touching original ballad, performed with Russell Moore), the playful autobiographical title track and lively "Bluegrass Saturday Night."

If this woman gets any better, no reviewer will be able to describe her work. Simply put, she's a phenomenal talent who surrounds herself with phenomenal musicians. On a five point scale of excellence this release merits a five.
