Aids Benefit to feature Award Winning Symphony

Grawemeyer Award winner John Corigliano's Symphony No. 1, which he wrote as a memorial to his friends who have died of AIDS, will be a highlight of a benefit to promote community awareness of the AIDS crisis in the Kentuckiana area. Proceeds from the event will benefit Heart to Heart / AIDS Support Services and The Community Health Trust.

The event will include selected seating at the Louisville Orchestra MasterWorks Concert at the Kentucky Center for the Arts on Friday, October 25, at 8:00 p.m. A cocktail reception on the River View Balcony following the concert will provide an opportunity to meet the composer.

The Louisville Orchestra is scheduling the Louisville premiere of Corigliano's Symphony No. 1 in the weekend concerts, with Friday's performance as part of the Heart to Heart Benefit. Corigliano's symphony was given its world premiere a year ago by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to enthusiastic audience and critical acclaim.

Tickets may be obtained by calling (502) 584-7777 and asking for the Corigliano AIDS Benefit tickets. Tickets are for selected seating in the upper balcony and are priced at $25 each, including the reception. Tickets for the reception only will be available at the River View Balcony on Friday evening for $15.
