MEMBER NEWS

WELCOME, NEW MEMBERS!

Welcome to six new LASC members. They have received member numbers 381 through 386, respectively.

Sherry Ward aspires to become an active member though work keeps her very busy. Some of you may have met her at the August 19 meeting.

At her home here in Louisville, Sherry writes both music and lyrics to just about all styles of music, with the exception of jazz.

Thanks, Sherry, for your generous offer to help with clerical duties and "whatever odds and ends"!

Received a nice letter from Kevin Cobb along with his membership application.

For Kevin, it took less than a month of first playing guitar ten years ago for him to discover that he was "more interested in 'fiddling around' with (his) own chords and tunes than in playing other artists'' music."

Though he is not sure he is interested in the collaboration aspect of songwriting, he is definitely in the market for any information on computer-aided programs for songwriters. (Kevin, look into Band-In-A-Box. Great for writers who want more freedom musically.)

And ... when you're not using your computer for writing, we'll take you up on your kind offer to help the Co-op with word processing! Thanks, Kevin!

Dan Kilian has made his impression on the open stages around town with his, ahem, enthusiastic stage mannerisms, which include, occasionally, lying on his back on the floor. He also has a taste for hats at least as curious as those worn by the Prez.

Be looking for new members John Denny of Louisville and Elliott Sewell of Kettle, Kentucky, at a membership meeting soon.

Christopher Ince makes his home in Elkhorn, Kentucky.

Writing country, folk, blues and rock puts Christopher's guitar and harmonica to good use.

Thank you, Christopher, for also offering to help the Co-op. We always need help with advertising, distribution and performing. Welcome!

Often new members have questions concerning the Co-op or the music industry in general; please don't hesitate to call me at (502) 893-0693. Or ask any of our LASC members. The very heart of the cooperative is working together and helping each other.

Anyone interested in joining the LASC or wanting more information about the organization is also welcome to call me at the above number and I will be glad to answer any questions and/or forward a membership application.

PLEASE NOTE: The Co-op would like to encourage new members to include with their completed application an attached page with biographical information.

Our welcome column is the perfect place to "let yourself be known!"
