Celtic Corner
By Roz Carrothers

Blue Sky

It's amazing that once again summer has passed in a flash. But for those seeking Celtic music, there is no cause for despair. Fall will lead the way to winter with some wonderful music. No matter what your musical preference, make sure to mark September 20-22 on your calendar for the First Annual Blue Sky Jamfest. The lineup of national and local artists is amazing! Local Celtic groups The Rashers and Tenrec will be among those performing. To get a complete lineup of performers and ticket info, go to www.blueskykentucky.com.

Ten Penny Bit

Ten Penny Bit has another busy month planned and will be performing September 1 at Jim Porter's Tavern at 4 p.m.; in Paoli at the Out of the Woods Music Shop on September 6 from 6:30 - 9 p.m.; on September 7 they will be at Cuzz's Bar in Vevay IN from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. central time; and then on September 22 at the Pioneer Days in West Harrison IN from 1-5 p.m. If it's a dress-up event that you want, they will be performing on September 21 for a Civil War reenactment on the Belle of Louisville, 7 - 11 p.m. Costumes are required.

Kitty O'Kirwan's Sunday Concerts

Even though the numerous summer festivals are over, Kitty O'Kirwan's will take the festival indoors by having free concerts during the month of September, on Sunday evenings from 7-9 p.m. Various local groups perform at these concerts. Check with Kitty's to see when your favorite is scheduled to perform.

Michigan Irish Music Festival

For anyone heading north, the Michigan Irish Music Festival will be taking place in Muskegon Michigan on September 13 - 15 with such groups as Cherish the Ladies and many more. For more information their website is www.michiganirish.org.
