Christian Artist Workshop

Early in November, Highview Baptist Church hosted the Christian Artist Workshop for those of our area who were interested in various aspects of the Christian music business. Nashville's Vine & Branch Productions put on the two-day function.

Friday's talent competition provided the stage for 87 acts of various musical styles. The a cappella vocal group The Brashear Sisters took the grand prize, while Unity, a contemporary ladies' trio, was tied for runner-up recognition.

Parrish Paul came away with the blue ribbon for the songwriting competition with CCM-styled song "Dance Like David." Congrats to all who received prizes!

About fifty were on hand Saturday to participate in the workshops given by various artists and people in the business, including Lynn Keesecker of Word Records, Morgan Cryar and WJIE's own Andy Haynes. Topics included, among others, Songwriting/Publishing, Promotion/Booking and Performance.

Steve Ivey and Mary Stephens have asked me to pass along their special thanks to Highview Baptist Church and staff, WJIE and Andy Haynes in particular.
