coma-inducing argh!
The Natural Philosophy of Love (Relapse)
Amber Asylum
By Brent Starkey
Amber Asylum plays ethereal, ambient muzak that'll cause you to lapse into a coma. Female vocals, powered (that's a joke) by cello, violin and lots of quiet moments. It's the kind of muzak you'd expect to hear pumped through a monastery, it's also the kind of CD you'll be seeing in the used-bin. ALMOST tolerable song: "Cupid." Most intolerable song: a nearly eight-minute cover of Buffy Sainte-Marie's "Poppies." ARGH!!
