A Gospel Family Affair

Stand Still (Horizon Records)

The Isaacs

In 2000, the Isaacs received the Gospelle Fans Pick Award for Band of the Year. They are a highly polished, commanding, and professional group of the highest caliber. Their harmonies are magnificent, their lyrics are profound, and their musicianship is phenomenal.

After years with Allison Krauss, Adam Steffy brings his exquisite mandolin and voice to this uniquely refreshing family gospel ensemble. Tim Surrett (dobro) is married to Sonya Isaacs, a lead singer with an extraordinarily smooth yet authoritative style. She was nominated as IBMA female vocalist of the year in 2001. Other nominees were Rhonda Vincent, Dolly Parton, Lynn Morris, and Claire Lynch. High powered company!

Rebecca Isaacs, a wonderful vocalist and guitarist, is married to John Bowman, banjo, guitar, and vocals. Other members of this group include Ben Isaacs on bass and vocals and Lily Isaacs, vocals. This project is truly a family affair.

Although each track is compelling, several cuts are exceptional and must be singled out. "Stand Still" is a masterful interpretation and was nominated as IBMA gospel recorded performance for 2001. The drive and passion of "Prophets Admiration" will take your breath. "I'm Ready To Go" is a quartet number with some formidable banjo, mandolin and dobro work. "The Reach of His Hand" is a compelling waltz and "I Come In The Name of the Lord" is superb.

Stuart Duncan's fiddle also provides plenty of robust excitement. If you like Bluegrass gospel, this recording belongs in your collection. Check them out at www.theisaacs.com.
