• National Jug Band Jubilee, Inc., a Louisville non-profit group dedicated to preserving, promoting and presenting jug band music, has donated more than 150 jug band tunes to the Louisville Free Public Library. The songs were recorded in the 1920s and 1930s, including a number that feature jug band pioneer and Louisville native Earl McDonald. The CDs will be available to library patrons when they have been cataloged. Jug band music is generally believed to have originated in Louisville at the end of the 19^th Century.

• We hear from ukulele goddess Mary Lou Dempler that her Mel Bay book, Easy Ukulele Method Book, is a best seller for the company. Skip the "Tiny Bubbles" jokes, please.

• Coyote's is one of five nominees for the Academy of Country Music 2006 Nightclub of the Year Award. Pretty big deal. They're up against Billy Bob's, among others. The award will be presented on May 23 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

• Timothy Edgar Jenkins, 51, died Sunday, March 5, 2006. He was a keyboardist who played with the Bobby Lanz Band, among others and was an organist at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church at the time of his death.

• Morris, Benjamin Harrison "Buddy" died on March 16, 2006. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 11-637

• Skelton, John E. Jr., 87, died on March 1, 2006. He was professional musician as a young man and later as a member of the Mello Tones Orchestra.
