Celtic Corner
By Roz Carrothers

Gifts for the Season

For anyone who wants to buy the perfect gift for a Celt-o-phile, the Celtic Centre on Bauer Avenue is the answer. Of course, their jewelry is my personal favorite, they also have clothing, food items (Hobnobs - yum!) and a variety of wonderful and unique gifts. (Check out the beautiful ties; it's the first tie my father was actually happy to get as a gift!) I've also found that gift certificates from Kitty's are a favorite of clients and business associates.

Gifts for the Music Lover

The vote is in - the Apple iPod is a must-have for your favorite music lover. It's an MP3 player that can hold 10,000 songs and has an eight-hour battery life. Can't afford an iPod? Then check out the Dell Digital Jukebox. It's not as small or slick as the iPod, but the sound is great - and at half the price. Another great option is the Delphi SKYFi Portable Audio system. It's a mini boom box that gets 100 channels of satellite radio, whether you're at home or on a beach.

Kitty O'Kirwans

For a nice quiet Sunday evening come hear live music from 7-9 p.m. while having a wonderful dinner at Kitty's. Yours truly has been part of the Sunday night line up. Don't forget the sessions at Kitty's every Thursday night, a great chance to play with some of Louisville's finest Celtic musicians.

Sunday jam at Molly Malone's

Thursdays not a good night to get out, you say? Well, then, how about a Sunday jam with Aviv Naamani and other members of The Pail at Molly Malone's? Head on over around 4 p.m. as folks wander in and begin to play. It's a good chance to hear and learn some Scottish and Prince Edward Island tunes.

Galloglass has the Holiday Spirit

Galloglas is doing its 8th Annual Celtic Christmas Concert at the Rudyard Kipling Saturday, December 6 at 8 p.m.. Call 636-1311 for reservations. It has been sold out every year. Their "Galloglas Christmas" as well as "Turning Colors" CD's will be available at the show and at the Shelbyville Road Borders Books & Music.
