Name: Jimmy Payne

Age:Just turned 56 and loving it!!

Instrument: Bass and guitar, they only let me play bass in public.

Band/Former Bands: Current band Sunset Blonde, previous bands MeanStreak, Electric Yesteryear, Insignificant Others, Hyde, Make Mine Blind, Allyantz, Snafu (The original five man trio). I'll explain that more down the list.

How long on Instrument: I started playing in about 1982, yup I am old!! I picked up the bass in about 1987.Thank you David Carmicle.

Equipment: My rig consists of 3 Spector Euro Basses and 1 USA Spector Forte 4,

Gallien Krueger MB500 Fusion Head and a Gallien Krueger 410 Neo Cabinet.

Influences: My influences on bass are many but Roger Glover is a big one. He always has such a bottom end groove. I just love his bass lines. And of course Gene Simmons. I know he is no Geddy Lee, but I dig those grooves. The bass line on She is killer.

My first Gigz: My first gig never made it out of the rehearsal room. Snafu (The original five man trio), I am sure you are wondering the whole five man trio thing. Picture a killer power trio, David Carmicle, Greg Toms and Ricky Carmicle. All seasoned usicians. Then picture two high school buddies just learning to play. Both of us playing through one old groaning Crate amp. It wasn't good, fun but not good.

Hobbies: Hmmmnn, music and traveling.

Favorite Movies: Anything Mel Brooks!!!! of course This is Spinal Tap and Tombstone.

Favorite Food: Italian and a good steak.

Favorite place: On stage!!! Secondly New Orleans or Las Vegas.

Favorite Sports or team: I love all forms of auto racing. I love speed! And I am an old school Packers and Reds fan.

What am I listening to nowadays: Larkin Poe, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Kobra and the Lotus, and anything I can find that catches my ear.

Coolest thing I've done: I played a festival to about 5000 people. Met Ace Frehley twice. I Drove a NASCAR stock car and my top speed was a little over 160MPH.

Most embarrassing moment: To me or the people around me? Hmmm, recently playing White Rabbit in the wrong key while my singer Gywn looked at me with the what the hell is wrong look!!!!!

Bad habits: Let's not go there. I'll just say acquiring too many guitars and basses. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

What was your first concert ever: My first concert was Kiss July 16th 1979, followed up by Van Halen in Feb of 1980. What a way to start off concerts!!!

If you could meet a rockstar(past or present), who would it be, and why: Rock star I would like to meet?? Damn there are so many. Gene Simmons, David Bowie, The Beatles,

Prince, Sinatra.I can't pick only one.

Who do you love: Well obviously my kids and my parents. Hell just everybody. except for maybe a couple. If people just took a little time to show a little love we all would be a lot happier!!!! Life is short and tomorrow is not guaranteed. So hug someone and be happy!!!!
