Down On The Corner

Labor Day Weekend, a.k.a., the beginning of Fall, is here and the onslaught of Fall Festivals is close behind. Too many to list here: check out the LMN calendar for a more complete lineup. Have a good time but please don’t drink and drive.

Your humble editor has been busy cleaning up content on the website and making it more consistent, which means it should load a bit better and look better, too. The back issues span a period from before the Internet to the current day, so the coding was kinda iffy, early on.

Codas

Carmon, Charles, died August 5, 2018. He was a guitarist in a number of Louisville bands, including the Winston Hardy Band.

Albrecht, Kenneth Harold,73, of Louisville, died on August 9, 2018. He played French horn in the Louisville Orchestra for more than 40 years as principal horn.

Sharpenstein, Quentin, 74, in Louisville on August 17, 2018. He served 26 years in the military with the West Point United States Military Academy Band and the 202nd KY Army National Guard Band. His music career took him around the world, performing with The Hudson Philharmonic, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Derby Dinner Playhouse, Broadway Series Productions, and many other creative ventures. He founded The Derby City Brass Band and The Commonwealth Brass Band. He also founded, lead and/or played with groups such as The Rascals of Ragtyme, The Advocate Brass Band, The Swedish American Dixieland Band, and the Vo Jazz Trio.
