Orchestra Moves '92-93 Masterworks To Macauley

The Louisville Orchestra recently announced that the Saturday evening MasterWorks concerts for the 1992-93 season will move from Whitney Hall of the Kentucky Center for the Arts to the Macauley Theatre.

MasterWorks is the ten-concert classical music series featuring full-length works, the full complement of the Orchestra, and internationally acclaimed guest artists. Currently, both the Friday and Saturday evening MasterWorks concerts are performed in the Whitney Hall. During the 1992-93 season, the Friday evening performances, along with the Thursday morning Cumberland Coffee Concerts and the Fanfara Opening Night Celebration, will continue to take place in Whitney Hall.

Maestro Lawrence Leighton Smith's pre-concert talk will take place in the Brown Hotel prior to Macauley performances, allowing for increased capacity, and in the Mary Anderson Room of the KCA prior to Whitney Hall performances.

The move to the historical theatre, located on Broadway between Third and Fourth Streets, comes following KCA's recent assumption of management responsibilities for the Macauley. KCA President Marlow Burt said, "Assuring that the symphony is presented in the best possible environment is extremely important to us. We will always view the Kentucky Center as the Orchestra's home, but will strive for the same quality level for its players and audience at the Macauley as we provide at the Center."

The Louisville Orchestra will announce full details of programming and pricing, along with Saturday night concert-related activities at the Brown Hotel, for its 1992-93 season in March. For additional information, call The Louisville Orchestra at (502) 587-8681.
