News From The Pit
By Laura Spaulding

Hey Pit People - what's up! I've got some upcoming shows & a CD review for ya & a little sad news as well.

Read on, read on. . . . . . . . . .

__ If you don't already know the sad news - The Toy Tiger will be closing right after Halloween. The club will re-open in December as a Las Vegas, cabaret style showclub.

The metal community will definitely miss the Tiger. I will always have fond memories of all the great bands that I had the pleasure of hearing and the many good times there. Thanks to the folks at the Toy Tiger for their support of metal - we will miss you!.

But hey, don't get down in the dumps just yet. There's still another month full of metal happening and I say that we get out there to help the Tiger go out in a loud style! Check it out: here are some of the killer shows happening there in October.

__Friday, October 8 - Flaw, Faceplant and Factor 9 - three very Fine, Fast and Flourishing bands (try saying this as fast as you can over and over again!)

__Monday, October 25 - Brought to us by Spotlight Productions, check out Agnostic Front and No Innocent Victim. There will probably be a local heavy band on this bill as well. Dudes and dudettes, I'm telling you, do not miss No Innocent Victim. They are all that and a bag of heaviness. Be There!!

__Do Not Miss This Show - Friday, October 29, "Unsigned Extreme 7 - Halloween Freak Fest. " This will be the last Unsigned Extreme at the Tiger, so again, do not miss it! This is a costume ball - make sure you wear yours and get $2 off admission. There will be piercing and tattooing by Asgard Inc., contests and giveaways. And of course ultra-heavy music from Primer 55, MSD (who are becoming quite popular around these parts), Twist (from Lexington), Dump Gang, Evil Engine #9 and the debut of Sideshow, which features former members of Inhuman, Sick World, Crazy Train, St. Heathen and Dump Gang. This should be quite interesting to hear! The show starts at 8 p.m. and it is 18 and over, so just be there!

For more information, call The Toy Tiger at 456 - 1137

__Another show from Spotlight, also at the Tiger - Wednesday, October 27, check out My Life With The Thrill Kill Cult at The Sextasy Ball.

Some other shows happening elsewhere in October . . .

__Thursday, October 7 - London Civic Center in London, Kentucky, Overkill with several guests including Torque, Shotgun 12, Sevenfold and Sideshow. Overkill has been in the business for a long time now and these guys know how to put on a killer show!

__Friday, October 8 - Sick Of It All, A.F.I and 59 Times The Pain at Sparks. $10 admission, all ages, doors open at 6 p.m.

__Wednesday, October 20 - Go see Nevermore and Mercyful Fate - another killer show at the Tiger.

A couple of tidbits:

__ Heard that Luther (from Glasgow) has broken up. This is not a good thing, since they were an awesome band.

__Congratulations to E-Flat for getting to play the Harvest Showcase - definitely the heaviest band there!

__Please see my review of the new Megadeth CD in this issue!

Remember - The Toy Tiger does not close until the END of October, so get your butt out there! I'll have more CD reviews for ya next time. I'm outie for now - see ya next month!
