Drowsy Maggie in Concert

It's not very often that we get to hear good ol' DM in a venue where you can listen and hear. A party atmosphere is fun but every once in a while you like to actually hear what a musical group is really doing. February is your chance for DM. They will perform in concert at the Amy Cralle Theater of Bellarmine College on Sunday, February 13 at 8 p.m. For more information call 897-9050.

Celtic Hearts

Galloglas celebrates Valentine's Day on Saturday, February 12 at one of Louisville's best music venues, The Rudyard Kipling. Starting at 8 p.m., the band will feature songs of love and romance from Ireland, England and Scotland. These holiday shows are popular (the Christmas show sold out), so you should make reservations ASAP. Call 636-1311. If you can't make it on Saturday, you can catch Galloglas on Friday night(2/11) at Molly Malone's starting at 10 p.m.

St. Brigid's Feast

The "Mary of the Gael" and the female equivalent of St. Patrick is St. Brigid. On Saturday, February 5, there will be a special service in her honor at St. Louis Bertrand Church at 5 p.m. Come and be serenaded by no less than the University of Notre Dame Choir!

Clonoe Independent Pipe Band

Louisville has really scored with securing the services of this All-Ireland champion pipe band from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. They will arrive on the 10th of March and stay until March 19. Formed in 1917, the band had to disperse during "The Troubles" but now has its own facilities and competes on a very high level in Ireland and Scotland. The "independent" in their name means they have no political, religious or even corporate affiliation and they are receiving support from the Peace and Reconciliation Commission to make the trip. It is hoped that Louisvillians will avail themselves of the many opportunities to hear them while they are here. Gigs are being arranged as you read this column. Irish Rover Benefit for Spina Bifida

Siobhan and Michael Riedy are generously donating their profits from their grand party on March 12 to the Spina Bifida Foundation. Spina Bifida afflicts the Celtic lands and Kentucky especially hard. Sundays at Molly's

Every Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. there is an Irish music jam session. All skill levels are welcome. Musicians come from all around the area and the lineup varies from week to week but you can usually count on the fiddling of Larry Green and multi-instrumentalist Mark Cannon. Check it out.
