Kentucky-bred Talent

Larry Cordle and Lonesome Standard Time
Took Down and Put Up (Lonesome Day)

Cordle's debut recording for Lonesome Day Records features nine original tunes, including a light-hearted love story ("'67 Chevy Malibu"), the cleverly worded "B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Blues)," a touching tribute to his boyhood friend, Keith Whitley ("Song For Keith"), two somber tracks that reveal his eastern Kentucky roots ("Hole in the Ground," and "A Visit with an Uncle") and a rip-roaring duet with Travis Tritt ("Rough Around The Edges"). Other gems in this sparkling collection are "Old Cheater's Blues" and "I Can't Lose What I Never Had."

This CD is a satisfying showcase for his consistently individual lyrics, vocal styling and an extraordinary band. The Lonesome Standard Timers are Chris Davis (mandolin and tenor vocals), Mike Anglin (bass and baritone vocals), Booie Beach (lead guitar), Kristin Scott Benson (banjo), Kim Gardner (Dobro), Jenee Fleenor (fiddles) and Wayne Benson (additional mandolin).

Cordle is a talented artist who writes and sings from his soul. His childhood in Cordell, Ky. and his friendship with Ricky Skaggs and Keith Whitley provided an uncompromising knowledge of and respect for bluegrass music. It shows in this release and you will be doing yourself a favor when you add it to your collection.
