The Lexington Scene

Welcome to the latest addition to the Louisville Music News. Over the next few months, I'll be taking you inside the music scene that is in your neighbor to the southeast - Lexington. In this column, I'll give you all the info the clubs and a taste of what the bands here have to offer.

The scene here in Lextown is filled with bands spanning every genre from country to rap to metal to straight up rock-n-roll. Each month, I'll spotlight a different genre and bring you the best in live music that Lexington has to offer. This will include a short interview with the band(s) of the month, upcoming show dates and website addresses for each group so you can check `em out for yourself. With the diverse styles of the bands here, you're almost guaranteed to discover someone or something you'll like. At least, that's what we hope.

But what's a band without a place to play? That's why we'll also be taking a look at the bars, clubs and restaurants that make up the much-needed live outlets that make all the bands' songwriting and practicing worthwhile. From the big dance/live music combination clubs to the little "hole in the wall" bars, you'll get all the info you need to make your musical road trip to Lextown memorable.

Hopefully, this column will benefit Louisville music fans and bands who want to expand their knowledge of Kentucky music and/or who'd like to find out a bit more about the bands and clubs Lexington has to offer. Next month, we'll look at one of the biggest combo clubs, A1A and shed some light on the modern "alternative" rock bands that are currently tearing it up in Lexington.
