this one

Preview: Good cause. Good Bluegrass. Good Bar-B-Que.

Bluegrass music is one of Kentucky's finest gifts to the world. A good music played by good people and, on August 27, it will be played for a good cause. For the second year in a row, Bluegrass 101 will host its festival at the Bullit County Fairgrounds. The event showcases nationally known bands, state bands and the generosity of human hearts. Once again, one hundred percent of the net proceeds will be donated to the Crusade for Children.

Mark your calendar for August 27, 2006 and head out to the Bullit County Fairgrounds (I-65 at Exit 112). The music begins at 11 a.m. Bluegrass 101; David Peterson and 1946; The Dean Osborne Band; David Davis and The Warrior River Boys; Big Country Bluegrass; a young group called Sassafras (ages 10 to 15) and other bands will give you a day to remember and your dollars will help a child. Everyone wins!

Last year the weather was hot but a large shaded pavilion and a nice breeze made the event very comfortable. Rain or shine, the pavilion will again provide shelter for the eight bands committed to playing music for the benefit of Kentuckiana's children. Non-alcoholic drinks and reasonably priced food will make the experience even sweeter. A mandolin-playing cook from Winchester, Kentucky will return to share some of the best barbeque in the state. (I know; I had two sandwiches.)

Last year, The Crusade for Children received a check for $3,000 and the organizers want to make a bigger donation this year.

Louisville Music News' columnist and WFPK radio host Berk Bryant will emcee the event. Handicapped parking is available. Admission: $15 adult. Children 12 and under free.
