Chief

Name: Chief.

Age: 21 (ha ha).

Instrument: Guitar/vocals.

Band/Former Bands: Currently I'm playing with an all original hard rock/metal band Wyld Ryde. Former bands Hardlein, Strait Up and Bum Rush.

How long on instrument: I started when I was around 5 or 6. My dad was a Blue Grass/Country musician. He taught me a few chords and some country songs. I remember hating it at the time. I didn't really start taking it seriously until I was around 15 and seen the benefits of playing the guitar from the opposite sex.

Equipment: I prefer a Les Paul Gibson. Right now, I am playing a tobacco burst Epiphone Les Paul with Emg pick ups, Mesa Boogie triple rectifier head, Marshall JCM 900 Lead-1960 cabinet, GHS boomer guitar strings. Boss digital delay pedal & a cry baby wah pedal. As far as equipment goes, let's just say I can handle most jobs.

Influences: First and foremost, my dad Hayward C. "Jim" Embry Sr. I would've probably never wanted to sing and play if it weren't for him. Next, I'd have to say guitar players would be Ace Frehley, Jimi Hendrix, Brian Robertson, and John Sykes. As far as singers go, I really like Paul Stanley, Phil Lynott, Paul Rodgers and Robin Zander.

My first gig: At a garage for a New Year's Eve party. It was my best friend and bassist at the time Tony Wick's older brother's house. My guitar was getting fixed so I had to rent one to play. The guitar wouldn't stay in tune and as you could imagine, it made things difficult. We still rocked it and ever since then I knew that's what I was here to do.

Hobbies: I like to ride motorcycles, practice Jiu jitsu and lift weights. I also enjoy traveling the world, meeting new people and seeing new places. These are a few of my favorite things.

Favorite movies: The Warriors, Rush with Jason Patrick and Sam Elliot, True Romance with Christian Slater. The Wolf of Wall street and Blow.

Favorite food: Texas Roadhouse, 11-ounce juicy sirloin steak cooked to perfection slightly pink in the middle with freshly steamed vegetable. A house salad with the little homemade croutons, tomatoes, shredded cheese, & creamy ranch dressing is at the top of my list. I can't forget about the peanuts & delicious rolls. That stuff hits the spot every time. Tell them Chief sent you!.

Favorite place: I love being with my family and friends and of course playing music on stage. I'd have to say my favorite place to be is wherever I find myself.

Favorite sports or team: I love to watch UFC. It reminds me a lot of life, sometimes you get knocked down but that doesn't define you. What you do after you've been knocked down defines who you truly are.

What I'm listening to nowadays: Currently I've been listening to Avenge Sevenfold's City of Evil. Freddy Fender's greatest hits & Tupac Shakur's All Eyez on Me.

Coolest thing I've done: I would have to say flying (for the first time) to Hollywood, California and playing the Whisky A Go Go.

Most embarrassing moment: I was playing a show at a bar in Portland. I walked off the stage to jam out with the crowd. When I decided to run and jump back on the stage, I didn't quite make it and fell flat on my face. Somehow, I continued playing but it totally killed my vibe.

Bad Habits: Procrastinating and strippers. I always try to talk them out of stripping for the public and have them just strip for me. It usually goes great until I run out of monopoly money.

What was your first concert ever: Kiss Animalize with Queensryche at the Commonwealth Convention Center downtown. It was a concert I'll never forget.

If you could meet a Rockstar ( past or present ), who would it be, and why: I would have to say Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy, because he was an awesome lyricist and total badass. He reminds me a lot of myself.

Who do you love: My family, friends and positive people. I love Rylee C baby! Oh & you, I definitely love you!
