Eddie Shaw & the Wolf Gang

Eddie Shaw, the man who is responsible for all the arrangements on "The Howlin' Wolf London Sessions," will bring his fabulous alto and tenor saxophones and his harmonica to Uncle Pleasant's on July 29.

Shaw, whose music has been recorded by John Hammond, Magic Sam, Willie Dixon, Otis Rush and others, has had a band ever since he was in high school in Mississippi. Since then he and the Wolf Gang have played many places; from J.F.K.'s inauguration to Chicago blues clubs, Carnegie Hall, and now Uncle P's.

Accompanied by his son Vann on virtuoso electric guitar, "Shorty" Gilbert on bass and vocals, and Robert Plunket on drums, Eddie Shaw and the Wolf Gang keep the blues tradition alive. After sharing the stage with, and being right-hand man to, Howlin' Wolf, Shaw most definitely knows the blues, and (more importantly) knows how to communicate them to us.

To quote Karen Murray in the Winnipeg Free Press, "Shaw gives the crowd more than music. He wants people to have a good time when they hear him play so as to keep alive something he refers to as the blues tradition."

Come enjoy the music and help the tradition keep on.
