Renowned Audio Engineer Joins Local Firm

Recorded Elvis, Orbison, Everlys

Bill Porter, longtime RCA session engineer in Nashville, has been picked as the new president of Allen-Martin Productions. Porter was the engineer on many hits for such artists as Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, the Everly Brothers and others. He leaves a position at the University of Colorado Denver School of Music, where he taught Music Engineering.

Porter began work as a recording engineer in March of 1959 and had his first Number One record in August of that year. He engineered such hits as Floyd Cramer's "Last Date," Jim Reeves "He'll Have To Go," Orbison's "Only The Lonely," and a number of Presley tunes.

Mike Gibson, AMP President for the last seven years, has taken an upper-level management position with Winston Products. Gibson said that Winston made him an offer that he couldn't afford to turn down. The departure was amiable, in part because of the availability of Porter.
