Songwriter And Performer Opportunities

(Louisville Music News provides the following information as a service to its readers, and does not attempt to pass judgment on the advisability of participating in the opportunities presented. -- Editor.)

Boggy Depot Music (BMI) and Burning Love Ltd (ASCAP) is looking for songs to publish. They are interested in receiving country, r&b, pop, rock 'n' roll and gospel songs. Send cassette tape of no more than three songs to: O.L. Records, 10051 Greenleaf Ave., Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670.

Free Wheel Production is currently recording Nashville's most promising new artists and is looking for traditional and contemporary country songs for national release. All material sent to them will receive their full consideration. Submit no more than three songs and enclose a SASE if material is to be returned. Kenlake State Resort Park is offering a "Songwriters' Workshop and Concert" on March 30 and 31. The weekend will feature concerts, a workshop on publishing and licensing songs conducted by Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), personnel from Nashville, a "cassette roulette" session and an open stage songwriters' showcase. Songwriters Association of America, Denver, Colorado, is sponsoring a songwriting contest with the following categories: Rock/Pop, Country/Folk, New Age/Jazz, R&B/Dance and Showtune/Movie Theme. Entry fee is $10/song and the deadline is March 31, 1990. SAA's Music Fair 1990 is open to the public, and entrance is free for contest entrants.
