The Louisville Orchestra at The Louisville Zoo

The final two of The Louisville Orchestra's four evenings of summer symphony entertainment under the stars at the Louisville Zoo will take place on July 7 and 14 at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, July 7, the Orchestra will perform its "Classical Concert," which will include works of Dvorak and Mozart, under the direction of conductor Gisele BenDor. Ms. Ben-Dor is a past assistant conductor of the Orchestra, and has studied under Leonard Bernstein and Seji Ozawa among others.

Principal Bassoonist Matthew Karr joins Ms. Ben-Dor as soloist in this performance.

In an encore presentation, Saturday, July 14, "Sousa at the Symphony" concludes the Summer Series at the Zoo. Keith Brion has endeavored to recreate successfully the look and sound of John Philip Sousa and the Sousa band. Mr. Brion's extensive historical research of the technique and personality which became an American musical tradition has produced a performance which has garnered popular and critical acclaim throughout the country.

The Zoo opens for picnicking at 6:15 p.m., and concerts begin at 8:30. Rain dates for both concerts are scheduled for the following Sunday at 8:30 at the Louisville Zoo; in the event of rain on Sunday, the concerts will be moved to Whitney Hall at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.
