John Stewart To Appear at Uncle Pleasant's

John Stewart has impeccable songwriting and musical credentials. He replaced Kingston Trio founding member Dave Guard in 1961, after having had several of his songs recorded by the Trio. He was involved in the sixteen albums the Trio released between 1961 and 1968.

After the Trio disbanded, Stewart set out to have a "solo career." He got off to a good start by penning "Daydream Believer" for the Monkees, which traveled the nether reaches of the charts to #1. It later made another run up the pop charts for Anne Murray. He wrote "July, You're A Woman," which was recorded by several performers and charted twice in 1974.

Rosanne Cash cut his "Runaway Train," which reached #1 on the country charts in 1988.

Stewart has recorded a total of sixteen solo albums since 1968, with help from such luminaries as Cash, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Carole King and Stevie Nicks.

In short, the man has outstanding accomplishments in the music field.

Which means you've never heard of him, even though you've heard those songs.

Well, bucky, here's your chance to remedy that situation. Stewart will be performing at Uncle Pleasant's on Saturday, August 11.

He will begin performing at 9 p.m. and play until 11 p.m. There will be no opening act.

Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 day of show and may be ordered from Mark Smalley at Uncle Pleasant's, 2126 S. Preston. The phone number is 502-634-4804.

Saavy Stewart aficionados will get those tickets early.
