Joe's Report
Joe's Report

Format: Cassette

When I saw Joe's Report for the first time recently, they gave me their tape to review. I suppose I figured I'd listen to it in the car a few times to get a feel for it and write a review based upon that.

But four days later it hadn't left the portable tape player I carr around with me. I had listened to it front and back nonstop in my travels. This nine-song cassette has got a great and slightly addictive sound that I still can't get out of my head. I have a song in my head of a band I didn't even know existed this time last week.

The tape was recorded for the band by Howie Gano at Mom's Recording Studio here in Louisville and it's a fantastic recording. The songs were all written and directed by Joe Scheirich, lead guitarist and vocalist. They carry a certain amount of consciousness of the world outside but not in an overbearing way.

Perhaps the most memorable tunes on the tape are "On Easter Sunday" (It's been a while since I've seen God smile on Easter Sunday), the hard-driving "Falling Down Eternally," and the soft and eerie "Dying Away."

This tape, sold exclusively at Ear Xtacy, would be a great addition to anyone's local music collection. If you've seen Joe's Report play live, you'll be even more impressed by the tape.
