Record Report

Beginning with this issue, LMN brings you occasional reports from record stores around the area about what's selling and what new recordings of interest are out. This month, the Report is from Dave Regneri of Four Seasons Records, 3636B Brownsboro Road.

First, a list of our 10 Top Sellers for the past month. The list is not necessarily in the order of best sales as different ones have been the top seller from week to week.

Below are four releases to come out this year that are highly recommendable.

Magical StringsCrossing to Skellig – (Flying Fish 531) – Harp and hammered dulcimer, possibly the best effort by this very talented duo.

Connie DoverSomebody – (Taylor Park Music 0101) – Former singer for the group Scartaglen, Dover performs songs of Scotland, Ireland and early America. This recording was produced by Phil Cunningham, who also plays on it, along with some other excellent musicians. Dover's voice and song interpretation are beautiful.

Mark SlonikerPerfectly Human – (Music West 222) - Eleven new songs by keyboardist Sloniker straddle the fence between jazz fusion and New Age, with an occasional folk sound thrown in for good measure. Sloniker is supported by other electronic and acoustic instruments in some very nice, creative efforts.

Danny WrightPhantasys –- (NIW 788) Pianist Danny Wright has scored big success with three releases in his "Black and White" series. Now he turns to some original compositions that will be enjoyed by just about any New Age piano fans.
