MEMBER NEWS

WELCOME, NEW MEMBERS!

Welcome to William "Jake" Jacobs, our 403rd member. Jake makes his home in Frankfort and was a member of the now-defunct Central Kentucky songwriters group.

Often new members have questions concerning the co-op or the music industry in general; please don't hesitate to call me at 502-893-0693. Or ask any of our LASC members. The very heart of the cooperative is working together and helping each other.

Anyone interested in joining the LASC or wanting more information about the organization is also welcome to call me at the above number and I will be glad to answer any questions and/or forward a membership application.

PLEASE NOTE: The co-op would like to encourage new members to include with their completed application an attached page with biographical information.

Our welcome column is the perfect place to "let yourself be known!"

RE-MEMBERS

We don't want to forget to thank those members who signed on for another year: Hedy Hilburn and Wally Stewart.

Dues To Go Up But Showcase Admission To Fall

Effective January 1, 1992, annual LASC membership dues will be increased to $25.00. To offset this increase, members will be given free admission to regualr monthly SHowcases at the Rudyard Kipling. Excluded from this free admission will be the April and November Showcases.

COLLABORATOR'S CORNER

Interested in finding a collab-orator? Call Tim Lynch (502-964-8527) or Diana Black (502-893-0693) and they will include your name, phone number and type of music and/or lyrics you write in a column that will begin appearing period-ically in the Letter.

The following members have expressed an interest in co-writing :

Earl Meyers writes all styles of music, both melodies and lyrics; 502- 452-1996.

Eddie French is looking for someone who writes country melodies; 502-491-0041.

Reba Ashcraft is also looking for a composer of country melodies; 502-933-3253.

The membership decided at the last meeting to create a Bulletin Board in the LASC Letter. This bulletin board will be free to members, who may use it to announce various songwriting related events, to look tor collaborators or musicians, file complaints, share news of new babies, marriages, social notes and etc.

Conditions: members only may use this bulletin board and the editors reserve the right to edit tor brevity and clarity. The general rule of thumb is fifty words, although this limit is not absolute. Longer items might be shifted to other sections of the Letter.

Unbeknownst to him, Eric Johnson's letter, which follows, will be the kick-off item.

Send your itemsto: LASC Letter, P. O. Box 16, Pewee Valley, KY 40056.

CO-OP BULLETIN BOARD

I represent JAN SMITH AND THE ECLECTIC COWBOYS, an Atlanta-based rock/pop band with female lead vocalist.

The band is presently looking tor solid material for inclusion in its live performances and possible use in an artist's demo package. They are also open to non-traditional, "hard" country songs.

I would appreciate your putting a notice in your organization’s next newsletter requesting that material from your members be sent to me at [3012 Moorings Parkway, Lithonia, Georgia 30058] with cassette and lyric sheet. No returns.
