Video, Film Artists Applications Being Taken

Video artists and independent filmmakers in a ten-state region that includes Kentucky are eligible to apply for production grants to continue their work.

The funding source for the 1992 Southeast Media Fellowship Program, coordinated by Appalshop, is the Media Program of the National Endowment for the Arts. NEA has come under fire of late for funding art projects deemed obscene by some politicians and action groups.

The program awards grants of up to $8,000 for new works or works in progress. Equipment access grants are also available.

Other participating states are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The deadline for applications is February 3, 1992. For forms, write to SEMFP, c/o Appalshop, 306 Madison St., Whitesburg, Ky. 41858.
