Yamaha Corporation's Soundcheck Competition Announced

The Yamaha Corporation's 6th Annual Soundcheck, a rock music showcase, has been announced in Los Angeles. The competition offers rock bands the opportunity to have their music heard by record industry professionals and to perform live on television in Hollywood.

The requirements for entry are: any band that writes and performs its own music, has a minimum of two members and is not currently signed to a nationally-distributed record label.

Twenty Semi-Finalist bands will be selected by recording industry personnel. These twenty will perform for judges in their hometown. The Finalists will be flown to Hollywood for the September 15 Showcase Finals, which are taped for national television syndication.

The Grand Prize Winner will win $10,000 in cash or Yamaha equipment, record a demo with a professional producer and make connections with music industry people. The winner will also get an all-expense paid trip to Japan to represent the USA at "MusicQuest '92."

To enter, bands must submit a cassette recording of two original songs by June 30, 1992. To get an entry package, call 1-800 - 451-7625 (ROCK). Each package contains an entry form, showcase details and a TDK cassette tape.
