Jazz Workshops Scheduled

Bellarmine Jazz Clinic

If you are planning to attend the Bellarmine Jazz Guitar Clinic in June and haven't already signed up, get to your telephone immediately. According to Director Jeff Sherman, many registrations, most from out-of-state, have already been received and it's possible that last-minute attenders might well find themselves without a space.

Sherman has again assembled an array of great jazz guitarists to pass along their wisdom as well as their chops to eager jazz guitar students. He credits the addition of Jim Hall to the faculty roster for the flurry of advance registrations.

Howard Roberts, who was originally scheduled to teach at the clinic, is ill and has been replaced by Gene Bertoncini. Louisville native Jimmy Raney, Sherman and Hall will also be instructors for a two-day clinic, June 15 and 16, at Bellarmine. A concert featuring them will be held Monday, June 15, in Wyatt Hall on the Bellarmine campus. Admission is $7 in advance, $8 at the door.

The clinic costs $70 and the enrollment is limited. According to Sherman, there have already been many out-of-state registrations. There is dorm space available. For more information, call (502) 452-8182.
