A Note from the (New) Editor

It's a new year, we have a new Board, and I'm the new editor of the LASC Letter. Why me? 'Cause the Board asked me.

I do not intend to make this a regular column. I intend to have you make this your regular column.

Many of you responded to our survey by saying that you'd like to write an article. Well, here's your chance. All you need to do is get a copy of your article to me no later than the 15th of the month.

The LASC Letter comprises two pages with space for about 3,800 words. Because there are certain articles that appear monthly, such as Songwriter of the Month, Member News and current events, it's necessary to keep other articles to about 500 words.

If you have access to a computer, it would be helpful to put your article on floppy disk. Suitable formats include: DOS 5 1/4", low density; DOS 3 1/2", any density; and Macintosh. Save articles in ASCII, Microsoft Word or WordPerfect.

If you don't have access to a computer, please type you article.

While I've got the soapbox, I really want to encourage you to come to our monthly meetings on a regular basis. Our song critiques have been very helpful to all who attend. You longtime members who haven't been around have been missed. We need a more active membership. We will succeed or we will fail as a group. There are about ten or so folks who always volunteer to work a showcase or seminar or one of our other events, and it's always the same ten or fifteen.

We need your help. Let's start with this column. Submit your ideas and be willing to make a commitment to see it through. Let us know your likes and dislikes and what you're willing to do to help the organization to grow.

My address is in the LASC membership roster. I hope to hear from you soon and I'll see you at our next meeting, Monday, March 1, at the Musician's Union Hall at 1436 Bardstown Road.
