Country Style
By Jan Winders

Time flies, and it's that time of the year again. I guess I would say Christmas is my favorite part of the year. I love all the shopping, excitement, Christmas music, the smells of baking, and, most of all, everyone getting together to SHARE in memories we are making today for tomorrow.

I'm a warm-hearted person who appreciates the really special things in life — like Christmas and Santa Claus, stories with happy endings and friends and family. I have been richly blessed with a wonderful family and some great friends. Remember, a smile is worth a thousand words.

I didn't make it to Nashville this past month to get the Christmas wishes I promised. But I think we will survive. Have a safe and happy holiday, everyone. And remember, "Don't drink and drive!"

People, don't forget to check out the house band at the Village Pub. Have you heard of the Neon Cowboys yet? You're missing out if you haven't heard them — Wichita and some of his ole pickin' buddies. He used to play with Ron Peake and with Mike Lunsford. Check them out!

Robert Morris and the Lonely Roads Band did a fantastic job opening up for Clay Walker at Coyote's on Nov. 10. They are one of the bands featured on the new Coyote's Country CD to be released at Coyote's on Dec. 1.

BlackHawk is another band on the loose around our town these days. When I talked with Beverly Ballard of that group she was excited about the new four-song demo they're getting ready to work on with Music Man Records. Good luck!

On Friday, Dec. 10, the Cactus Brothers will be performing at Phoenix Hill. If you like raw rock 'n' roll with a hillbilly kick, go see these guys. They will be starting a 28-state tour in '94, opening for Billy Burnett and The Kentucky HeadHunters. I had the pleasure of listening to the Cactus Brothers this summer in Nashville, and they really impressed me.

For the holidays Charlie Daniels is performing head-on for a coast-to-coast radiothon to support the Marines' Toys for Tots for '93. This warm-hearted cowboy was named Humanitarian of 1993 by the Radio Broadcasting Industry. Yah Hoo!

For a Country Music Hall of Fame calendar call 1-800-255-2357.

Don't forget to attend Coyote's CD release party on Dec. 1.

Remember the "Reason for the Season." We want to see you back with us in 1994, so don't drink and drive!!

I've enjoyed letting you know all about the country side of the world in 1993.

Happy Holidays.
