Swannanoa Gathering

The Swannanoa Gathering is now accepting reservations for this year's session. The Gathering will be on the campus of Warren Wilson College, near Asheville, N. C. Jonathan Miller went to the Contemporary Folk Week last year and reported that he had an incredible time.

Gathering sessions include classes taught by highly qualified professionals and offer a flexible schedule, where you can pick and chose what you want to focus on. Meals are provided on campus, and evenings are packed with open mike sessions, open stages, and impromptu jam sessions all over the place.

The 1994 schedule is fuller than last year's with the addition of Mountain Dulcimer Week and Blues Week. Last year's Scottish Week has been renamed Celtic Week. The schedule is as follows:

Celtic Week, July 10-16

Old-Time Music & Dance Week, July 17-23

Contemporary Folk Week, July 24-30

Mountain Dulcimer Week, July 24-30

Blues Week, July 31 - Aug. 6.

Each session starts on Sunday night and runs through the following Friday night's staff concert. Enrollment is limited to 100-150 students per week. Costs are $245 per week tuition and $165 per week housing. A place can be reserved with a deposit of $50 tuition and $35 for housing, with the balance due by June 10.

For more information, or to make a reservation, write to: Mr. Jim Magill, Director, The Swannanoa Gathering, Warren Wilson College, P. O. Box 9000, Asheville, NC 28815-9000.
