Opportunities

The Louisiana Songwriters Association's January 1994 newsletter contained an interesting item in its "Song Pitching Opportunities" column:

Kentucky Artist Needs Material

Red Shadows, a Kentucky-born artist from Elizabethtown, Ky., is seeking C&W material for his "Route 66" band. With his Kentucky roots, distinctive voice and unique sound, this young entertainer has a large following of fans and has appeared on many C&W TV shows and radio stations in California and throughout the western states. Send material to Gene Bear, P.O. Box 699, Tujunga, CA 91042.

Other opportunities were also listed:

Children's Songs. (from Dallas Songwriters Association, 2932 Dyer Street, Dallas, TX 75205.

Dallas songwriters Beverly Houston and Barbara McMillen have formed Remarkable Records to produce and market records for little ears.

A mother of two, Mrs. Houston has written a children's musical play, When I was a Dinosaur, to be marketed worldwide. The theatrical version will premiere in Texas and Louisiana sometime this year. Houston and McMillen have also created Flying Red Horse Publishing Co. for new material for future projects.

Send songs with lyrics and SASE to Beverly Houston, Managing Director, 7139 Azalea, Dallas, TX 75230.

Christian Material. Freedom Recordings is seeking material for several Christian projects. Songs that are both pop and contemporary Christian are preferred with strong melodies that repeat. Submit your best three songs to: Freedom Recordings, 4411 Red Gate Drive, Disputanta, VA 23842.

Country Material

Fountain Records, Attn. Doris Lindsay, 1203 Baltimore Ave., High Point, N.C. 27226. Send demo and SASE.
