Country Style

I don't know about you, but these temperatures are unbearable. Busy is hardly the word for how I catch myself these long dog days of summer. One concert right after another to catch. The sizzling way to enjoy all of this is to make every day count for something. It seems as if summer is gone before you realize it.

I want to wish my baby girl "Happy 16th Birthday, Poo!" She and her friends are diehard Little Texas fans.

Congratulations go out to Lynda Burton of Coyote's and David Meland, the lead singer for the Free Spirit Band, who will wed June 25. I will be attending the wedding and wish them all the happiness they can endure in one lifetime.

There are some big acts coming to the Kentucky State Fair again this year. I will have more details in the next issue.

Coyote's menu for July 14 serves up the vigorous and lovely Carlene Carter; young, new Rick Trevino is the entree for August 9.

Look for the appearance of new, beauteous artist Jesse Hunter soon. Jesse, whose voice is very soothing to the soul, has a new album called A Man Like Me.

Fan Fair in Nashville this year was the best ever! It seems like every year it just gets better. I was honored to be invited to the Ladies of the Grand Ole Opry luncheon and fashion show. I had the privilege of sitting at the same table with Faith Hill, Shannon of TNN and Lorrie Morgan. Lorrie was sitting next to me and we had a ball. I caught the Warner Bros. show and their fish fry at their new building; now they know how to fry catfish!

I helped in the TNN booth two days and it was a lot of fun. I took pictures for fans with Shannon of TNN's Country Music Video Album Hour, a program that airs on Saturdays at 7 p.m.

I attended the Tracy Lawrence golf tournament, a fund-raiser for the Safe House for Recovering Women and Children. Players included Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Alkman, T. Graham Brown, Davis Daniels, Earl Thomas Conley and many more. Now that was fun. I walked 18 holes and part of the way I was carted by two young drivers, Brittney and Chase, who did a good job.

After dinner there was a concert and auction of items that had belonged to country music celebrities to raise more money.

Thanks to my good friends from the Anson Fireside Shop, Rick and Linda Gaddis. Rick is one of the sponsors (platinum) of the tournament and he also played in it. He has put gas fireplaces in the homes of numerous country artists and has also sold them a few gas grills.
