Sweet Dreams of Patsy

Patsy Cline biographer Margarett ones will read from and autograph her new book, "PATSY: The Life and Times of Patsy Cline," at the Shelbyville Road Plaza store of Hawley-Cooke Booksellers on Saturday, July 23, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. "

Before her tragic death in an airplane crash at the age of 30, Patsy Cline had experienced the peaks of a successful music career (member of the Grand Ole Opry, five Top 10 songs) and the valleys of heartache and pain in her personal life. A close friend of Butcher Hollow, Ky. native Loretta Lynn, Cline's influence can be felt today in the careers of such country artists as Reba McEntire, k. d. lang, and Kentucky natives Wynonna Judd and Patty Loveless. Three of Cline's songs entered the Top 10 after her death, and in 1973 she was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

"PATSY" is published by Harper-Collins. The author is a free-lance journalist and Publishers Weekly contributing editor who lives in Ojai, Califomia.

Refreshments will be served at the book signing, which is free and open to the public.
