Louisville's favorite post-punk art rock band Slint remains as influential as always, this time earning a discussion of their impact on music in "The Secret History of Rock" by Roni Sarig, on a site called listendammit.com. In particular, Spiderland gets the nod as the most significant album. This in a work published in 1998!? Go figure. Just to demonstrate that that is no fluke, Continuum's 33 1/3 book series is releasing Slint – Spiderland by Scott Tennent, a "thoroughly researched book [that] is the first substantive attempt to break through some of the mystery surrounding Spiderland and the band that made it."

Allan Needham (Fire Dept.) has announced another The Dark Side of the Wall concert, entitled Dark Side of The Wall: Wish the Animals Were Here, at the Brown Theatre on February 19. Tickets are currently on sale through the Kentucky Center. These shows have proven to be exceptionally well-received, indicating that there are a considerable number of Pink Floyd fans in the area. If that would be you, don't delay.

The vegetarian bar the Swan Dive is closed. The Swan Dive ran into the limitations of a grandfathered bar operating in a residential zone, meaning no entertainment. It's location was a bit problematic, too.

After a break that included a trip to the Gulf for James 'Fender' Vise, Fender's Den returned to the Internets with a show featuring Two Pump Chump and guests. Fender noted that he had to straighten out some financial issues. We can dig it. Login at www.denofsin.tv

Fans of jugband music should check out the Jugband Jubilee‘s Facebook page, where they have posted video of some of this year's performances. The video isn't too interesting but the sound is okay. Headliners Music Hall has been bought by a partnership formed by three of the four partners in Production Simple LLC. The new group is Jump In LLC, formed by John Grantz, Billy Hardison and Joe Argabrite III, who own and run Production Simple with Lizi Hagan. Hagan is not a partner in Jump In but will act serve as marketing director for Headliners. Hardison and Argabrite will run Headliners while Grantz will retain his position as senior business representative at Public Radio Partnership.

C-J classical music critic Andrew Adler moved to New Orleans to rejoin his family.

Bluegrass speedsters Arnett Hollow broke up.

Ingram, Ben, 79, died in Louisville on October 13, 2010. He was a noted Louisville jazz bassist and member of AFM Local 11-637.
