The liner notes give the impression that The Light Pink Album is a catharsis of sorts for Stephen Allen Davis. If that is the case, Davis certainly had a lot of angst to purge.
The album is full of slow-burn blues that are sorrowful enough to drive you to tears. Davis is primarily a storyteller, and these songs chronicle some heavy times for him.
'The mood is so dark that at times it is hard to enjoy the album (in the entertainment sense).
