Andi Ramser

Name: Andi Ramser

Age: Not even going there. I'm gonna keep you guessing on that one!

Instrument: My vocal chords are my instrument. I own a pink paisley Strat. She's so pretty. She just stares at me begging for me to spend time with her. But trust me, you'd rather hear me sing than play guitar.

Band/Former Bands: My first band was Point1Zero. We played covers and originals together for about 7 years. Strung Out Loud is the name of my acoustic duo. Then Sean Ewing and I created the original project, Mad Luck. Our album "Sweeter Now" is available online...so buy it, people! I also recently joined Wax Factory as their lead singer.

How long on instrument: I've always loved singing, but I didn't try it professionally until about ten years ago. I didn't have any former training when I got started. Just loved going to concerts and realized I wanted to be up on that stage singing instead of just watching it. I've developed my personal singing style, and I have a blast doing what I do.

Equipment: I use a Shure Beta 58A mic, Peavy mic stands, Behringer monitor, occasionally use brass knuckles and nun-chucks when shit gets crazy.

Influences: Freddie Mercury, Steven Tyler, Gwen Stefani, Blondie, Joan Jett, Shirley Manson, Captain Morgan

My first gig: My first gig was with the Point1Zero guys. We played the guitarist's Memorial Day party in his back yard. Our stage was a patio. Our audience was about twenty people sitting in lawn chairs. The cops showed up, because neighbors complained we were too loud. A rock band disturbing the peace? That's when we knew we were doing our job right.

Hobbies: I read books, I shop for shoes I don't need, and I'm a P90X fanatic. I'm training to be a superhero. I've been told it's my calling.

Favorite movies: Office Space, Napoleon Dynamite, Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Zoolander, Step Brothers, Fight Club, The Usual Suspects, Sound of Music, The Lost Boys, The Goonies

Favorite food: Cheese Pizza. Anyone who kinda knows me, knows that.

Favorite place: I do love being on a kick-ass stage, microphone in hand, singing songs that I wrote. Best feeling ever. But I am pretty partial to being on a hot beach, in a bikini, with a margarita in my hand, and the sun on my face!

Favorite sports or team: I prefer to play sports, not watch them. I play competitive sand volleyball. I know how to swing a tennis racket with some heat. I can throw a pretty mean spiral. And I have a witness who saw me kick a basketball that bounced off a wall, hit the ceiling, tapped the backboard, and went into the basket. It was sweet.

What I'm listening to nowadays: Queen, Bowie, Paramore, Hall and Oates, Jellyfish, No Doubt, Foo Fighters. Disclosing my full iTunes catalog would destroy any ounce of street cred I might actually have.

Coolest thing I've done: That's a tough question, but honestly finishing my album. When the physical copies of the Mad Luck CD arrived at my doorstep and I held a copy in my hand, that feeling was the absolute coolest. I also once had a ten-minute conversation with Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith backstage before one of their concerts. We just talked about music and how their tour had been going. That was pretty damn cool, too.

Most embarrassing moment: Clutch concert at Expo 5 Halloween night 2013. Let me start this story by saying, someone definitely put something in my drink. I'd only had three rum and cokes over a couple hours, but my behavior got a little out of control. I climbed the barricade not once, not twice, but three times to run up to the stage. Had security threaten to throw me out. Just minutes later I was behind a closed concession stand hyperventilating. Then I got really sick. My first, only, and hopefully last experience getting roofied.

Bad Habits: I drive too fast, cuss too much, and I am totally OCD with making task lists. I make multiple lists every day. I don't know if that's a good or bad habit, but it makes me feel like a crazy person.

When/where did you first get some: Is this a sex or a music question? Cause my momma had me listening to Elvis before I was even born! If we're talking about sex here, some things a lady just doesn't reveal.

If you could meet a Rockstar ( past or present ), who would it be, and why: The people who know me probably expect me to say Gwen Stefani here. We'd become best friends if we got a chance to hang out. But I'm going with Freddie Mercury. I've always liked Queen. But just within the last couple years I developed a slight obsession with how enigmatic that man was on stage, that voice, his vibrato, the genius of his songs and harmonies.

Who do you love: I love the Louisville music community. It is like a big, amazing, dysfunctional family in this city, and I love it! There's so much support, and there are so many great friendships. I feel honored to be a part of it!
