It takes a certain kind of crazy to ride bulls, usually a craziness associated with the very young, who believe themselves to be, if not immortal, then pretty much indestructible. Translate that into a singer-songwriter and you have Texan Ryan Bingham, who rode bulls on the rodeo circuit before taking up a different style of entertainment. He's now four albums into it, with the fourth, Tomorrowland, just released in September. His Crazy Heart album garnered him a shelf of awards, including Academy Award for Best Original Song, Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media, Las Vegas Film Critics Society Award for Best Original Song and World Soundtrack Award for Best Original Song Written Directly for a Film, all in 2009. He says he still puts his pants on one leg at a time. You can hear him sing one song at a time at Headliners on October 12. Thanks no doubt to those awards, tickets are $22 adv/$25 DoS
