New York City singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson has made it to the top the new-fashioned way, that is, through song placement on television shows and ads, including Scrubs, Bones, Grey's Anatomy, The Big C, In Plain Sight and One Tree Hill. (There are a whole bunch more.) Of course, she writes good songs and sings very prettily, which helps immensely. She's a newlywed, having married singer-songwriter Greg Laswell earlier this year. She and her husband are touring in support of her 2012 album, Human Again. The pair will play Headliners Music Hall on July 18. Tickets are $25.
