It's well-known that Louisville has a special place in its heart for jamgrass bands, thanks to the founders of same (NGR). In the years since Newgrass Boys would like to "pick a little for you," quite a number of acoustic acts have taken up the banner, particularly in Colorado, among them Yonder Mountain String Band, which is scheduled into the Mercury Ballroom on Wednesday, October 29. Cofounder Jeff Austin has left the band this year, so things might sound a bit different. The plan is to tour with the remaining three members, while having "special guests" fill in for Austin while they look for a permanent replacement. For the Louisville show, that will be Allie Kral on fiddle and Jake Jolliff on mandolin. With nine albums to their credit, they're not going to run out of songs to play. Tickets to the show are $20 adv/$25 Dos plus fees.
