Keb' Mo' returns to the Derby City after a very long absence; his only other show here was in 2006 at the Palace. It's a bit odd, given Louisville's fairly steady appetite for the blues. In any case, he's got a new, just-released record, BLUESAmericana, his fourteenth, to entertain fans with. He won Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 1997, 1999 and 2005, so he clearly is important in the blues field. His songwriting chops extend beyond one genre; in 2006, he cowrote "I Hope" with the Dixie Chicks for their Taking The Long Way album. Tickets for the August 22 show at the Mercury Ballromm are $33.50+$6.50 fee if you order online. G. Love & Special Sauce will open. For a sample, check out this video of the Keb Mo Band at the Rawa Blues Festival in 2013:
