"Sonically, Coheed has been called the Gen Y answer to Rush -- particularly in light of Mr. Sanchez's soaring vocal style -- while also being compared to emo bands. "Descension" boasts a range of styles from epic progressive ("Pretelethal") to crushing alt-rock ("The Hard Sell") to something resembling '70s art-pop ("Away We Go")." - Scott Mervis, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The New York prog rock band Coheed & Cambria has an interesting twist to their musical career - all of their albums are concept albums built around a science fiction story called The Amory Wars, which was written by the lead singer, Claudio Sanchez. The story has also been developed into a series of comic books and a full-length novel. Their discography now stretches to seven studio albums, three live albums and a number of special-edition releases, which testifies to either the complexities inherent in the story or the willingness of the band to repeat themselves a bunch. (Bet on "A.") Ther latest is The Afterman: Descension. The tour they're on is called Neverender IKSSE:3 and they will spin you a few tales when it lands at the Mercury Ballroom on October 6, with Thank You Scientist opening. Tickets are $32.50+$6.50.
