Rock and metal promoter Terry Harper had a number of shows booked into the now-shuttered Bulldog. It appears that he has managed to move those shows to Uncle Pleasant’s and on the same dates. Check the LMN calendar later today for updates.
There’s no end to the quirks of the print media – today’s C-J has a “Snapshot of People at Work” in the Business section that features blues/jazz vocalist Robbie Bartlett. We’ll take it.
J. L. Puckett has a bit of an obituary of Vic Chestnutt, as befits a music geek. Chestnutt was rather a figure similar to the late Townes Van Zandt – both singer-songwriters more appreciated by fellow musicians than the general publice, both too early dead at their own hands.
Various sources are reporting that singer/songwriter Vic Chestnutt had died, following a suicide attempt on Christmas eve. Other reports are that he is in a coma but not dead. More to follow as information becomes available.
Chestnutt’s record label, Constellation Records, released a statement yesterday that Chestnutt died Friday, December 25, at 14:59.
