The Ville Voice website reports that the Cincinnati version of Velocity, CiN Weekly, is being rebranded as MetroMix and all of the staff was fired. The ‘new’ print publication will be composed of copy from Gannett’s various corporate sites nationwide, plus whatever’s on the web version of MetroMix. Given that Cincy is a bigger city than Louisville and thus has more advertising potential, this doesn’t bode well for the Louisville weekly, which has been reprinting copy from the C-J and elsewhere already. Besides all that, rumors continue that at a minimum, the C-J will lose four staffers. Nationwide, Gannett is preparing to slash 1,400 jobs.
