The June Edition of LMN is on the streets, with young bluesman Nick “Hambone” Hamstra on the cover. Also, Eddy Metal has his usual stack of show reviews, gossip and rants in his “News From the Pit.” With the new, People-friendly Friday edition of the Courier-Journals entertainment section, the daily is getting closer to what it used to be way back in the day, when there were several pages devoted to music. (It was the reduction of same in the late Eighties that inspired the creation of LMN.) We approve. However, [...] On May 28, 1949, WNAS FM 88.1 (New Albany High School) went on the air as the first high school FM station. The student-made promos tout their musical diversity in their playlist. Jay Walter Bennett, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, engineer, producer and singer-songwriter, best known for his work with the band Wilco, died on May 24, 2009. The cause of death has not been released. He was forty-five and had developed a solo career after parting company with Wilco.
