Slithering Beast gets the cover for May. The print edition is on the streets, the online version will be up on Friday. The multi-bar complex known as City Block, on Jefferson St. between First and Second, has closed, according to an item in the Saturday edition of the Courier-Journal. The article cites owner Ward Plauche’s assertion that the primary reason was competition from 4th Street Live!, which benefits from considerable financial assistance from the city of [...] It’s being reported in various placesm, including the C-J that Bob Dylan, John Mellancamp and Willie Nelson will play at Slugger Field on July 8. The C-J asserts that the concert is posted on the Louisville Bats website, but a search there reveals nothing. Stay tuned. Paducah native Steven Curtis Chapman added to his collection of trophies by picking up awards for “Artist of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year” at 40th annual Gospel Music Association Dove Awards in Nashville Thursday. Lucky Pineapple recorded five of the songs on Bubble at Steve Albini’s [...] For all you boomers of a certain age (and anybody else into classic rock), The Moody Blues will appear in concert at the Louisville Palace on August 28. Tickets range in price from $39.50 – $89.50 and go on sale on May 15.
